Their outward protruding skulls give them binocular vision and advanced depth perception, but also aid as weapons and will often use their skull to pin down their prey as they consume it. Despite having such a dark side, hammerheads have many friends- living pretty much worldwide where they school together during the day and then hunt at night in solidarity. As of 2013, all nine species of hammerheads have been added to the list of sharks under protection for fishing- but you can still keep them on a hook here without any legal concerns!
