One may think that "snumpkin" is just "snail pumpkin," but really- Snumpkin is simply his name.
Based on an apple snail, Snumpkin sports a lopsided jack-o-lantern as a shell, and is on the hunt for foods. Apple snails are actually known to be the largest aquatic snail and are also quite invasive. They have a lung/gill sort of combo (separate organs, but they're both there), that allow them to leave the water to lay eggs, or survive dry spells. While they're quite disliked in the wild due to their destructive habits, they are loved for their voracious personalities in the home aquaria (usually sold as "Inca Snails").
